What is a Qi Men Dun Jia chart?

A Qi Men Dun Jia chart is composed of a 9-square board. This board is a “cosmic board” that culminates and combines various layers or plates that reveal levels of information to read a QMDJ chart.

The Qi Men chart captures the vibrational frequencies from the Heaven, Earth, and Man realms, energies from the Spirit realm, and the eight cardinal directions. These six plates are also addressed as 6 layers of information, as revealed in various QMDJ charts.

Each board or layer of the QiMen Chart has a unique variables structure. With symbols rotating inside and around the 9 included palaces, 1080 original configurations or QMDJ charts can be made, with situations based on the 24 sub-seasons per year split between the Yin Dun and Yang Dun or halves.

As a result, there are various charts in Qi Men Dun Jia that you get to study in Qi Men Dun Jia Beginner’s Course. For example, Qimen Dunjia destiny chart, year chart, qi men month charts, Qimen day and hour charts.

Reading Qimen Dunjia charts:

Like most Chinese Metaphysics subjects, modalities and practices, you can get overwhelmed when you first see one of these charts. Reading a Qimen Dunjia chart can be confusing and complicated. You have to know where to start when thinking about how to read a Qimen chart, so understanding the chart’s composition is the first vital step to take.

While you’ll always see a 2-dimensional image when looking at the chart, it’s easier to imagine thinking about various charts piled on top of each other. But restricted within the 9 different segments depicted by a 3 x 3 cosmic board, which is layered on the Later Heaven Ba Gua plate.

A QMDJ chart is plotted using your local time. There is no need for time conversion in Qimen forecasting or divination.

What are the main components of a QMDJ chart:

This can be a bit technical information, so breathe and continue to read. I will do my best to make it simple and easy for you.

  • The Qi Men Deities plate: in this part, you will discover the 8 different gods or QiMen Deities used in Qi Men Dun Jia. Remember, there are 10 Qimen deities, but you only see 8 on the chart.
  • The Heaven plate: in this part, you will discover 9 Heavenly stars derived from the 100+ stars of Zi Wei Dou Shu.
  • The Man or Human plate: There are 8 Gates/Doors, also known as Ba Men. Ba means eight, and Men here means door. These Qimen doors symbolize human activities.
  • The Heavenly Stems Earth and Heaven plate. These two plates consist of nine out of the 10 heavenly stems placed around these plates. This is because in QMDJ, the heavenly stem Jia is hidden.
  • The fixed base plate is based on the Later Heaven Ba Gua and depicts the 9 palaces of the Qimen Dunjia chart. This also has the 8 trigrams and the 12 Earthly Branches.
  • The Palace Structure: you will discover that each palace (the box of the 3 x 3 grid) on the chart has a unique structure, formed by the Heaven, Earth, Man, Heavenly Stems, and the Ba Gua base plate coming together representing the internal and external palaces. With 2 Heavenly Stems in each sector, one always resting or stacked on the other.
  • The External Structure: this concerns the Bazi Four Pillars of Destiny used to generate the Qi Men Dun Jia chart to plot the day and hourly charts. This is a time-keeping system and forecasting technique that can be used independently. Based on the Ba Zi pillars, understand and identify the “Asker and Outcome” on the QMDJ hour chart.

The structure of the Stars, Doors, Gods, and Heavenly Stem create symbols of something, with different combinations, seasons, and positions making different meanings.

Are there any rules for Qi Men Dun Jia Divination?

Yes. The ancient Chinese sages laid down three divination rules for using the divination modalities. These are:

  1. No movement, don’t divine.
  2. Nothing surprising, don’t divine, and
  3. Don’t ask, don’t divine.

Let me explain what these three rules actually me. No movement means if you do not see a change in a situation, there is no reason for you to plot another chart and keep looking for an answer you wish.

Qimen Dunjia chart is always a neutral chart. It does not take sides, reveals the truth of a situation, and shows the outcome based on timing. A feeling of surprise affects human emotion and intuition. When you have that gut feeling that something is happening, then plot a QMDJ chart to get the guidance, and if there is no surprise element or intuition or heightened sixth sense, do not use Qimen.

The last rule of divination here means if no one has asked you a question that requires the use of Qimen divination, then you should not plot the QMDJ chart. In other words, when someone asks a question, only then plot the Qimen chart.

What are the steps for QiMen Dunjia divination:

Before you can actually read the QMDJ chart, follow these steps:

  • Have a straightforward question ready in your mind: The question must be a yes or no question or an outcome-based question. It should not be an open-ended question. Remember, Qi Men honors your free will choices and is impartial. It shows the truth and reality, forecasting based on actions, determination, and desire. Then shows the outcomes.
  • Look for markers to plot the QiMen Hour Chart: The most accurate chart is connected with your energy, the energy of your question, and the Universal identification, the right time of the Qi Men chart that will reveal the precise information.
  • Hold the question in your mind or paper and plot the Qi Men Chart where you wrote your inquiry.
  • Do not doubt the chart or replot it.
  • Interpret the chart carefully, even if the outcome is not what you anticipate or desire.
  • Based on the analysis, decide what action you should take to achieve the best result.

How to read the Qimen Dun Jia chart in 5 simple steps:

Now that you have plotted the QMDJ chart based on Divine timing or Universal markers, or the exact time of someone asking their question. Follow these 5 steps for simple divination or forecasting using Qi Men Dun Jia:

  1. Identify the asker and outcome information on the Qimen chart based on the 4 pillars of destiny. These are the day stem and the hour stem.
  2. Identify the useful Gods based on the type of question(s) asked.
  3. Check the element in the related palaces and see the relationships, whether producing, countering, or controlling.
  4. Check the asker and outcome locations, which palace they are in, and the implications they reveal.
  5. Check for Fan-yin and Fu-yin charts, along with Tian Ma Sky horse location as well.

You should concentrate heavily on your questions, with a clear focus being the key to this type of practice. After all, you don’t want to interpret your Qi Men Dun Jia chart inaccurately, so both your head and your heart need to be in the correct place. Furthermore, asking a question that you don’t care about and have no incentive to act upon sometimes means that the chart won’t speak to you. QiMen forecasting chart symbolizes a small timeframe - a snapshot in time that can only be interpreted correctly with the utmost concentration and care.

The Concept of Ti Yong: What’s the Context

Chinese Astrology emphasizes the fundamental concepts of Ti Yong, which means reference point or “Useful God” and its relationship with the surroundings or environment. Ti means Body, and Yong implies use. It can also be translated as essence (Ti) and function (Yong). In each case, understanding the context is vital.
